This fella has had no luck at WHU has he. As soon as he has a decent match, he promptly gets injured. Gutted for the lad.

Was thinking more from Trippier's point of view. He is good enough to be first choice at a decent team. Annoyingly Spurs are doing it right again. With Walker and Rose injured they have Davies and Trippier to step in.

He was and never got on. Trippier was really good too. Better than Byram defensively imo. We are a long way behind Tottenham tbf and I doubt they'd want to sell either RB to us...

Was he? Thought he was out for the season but have obviously been watching our players too long. I see Kane came back in about 3 games as well
I suppose there is no need to rush him with such a good fill in. Bit fill in he is.

Walker was on the bench yesterday Sven so Trippier is keeping him out. I watched the televised game at the weekend and iirc it was commented on too.

Re: Byram

Trippier is not keeping Walker out of the team Walker is injured and will straight back in when he is fit. Trippier is obviously a very good Premier league right back and needs to move and play somewhere as first choice.

Needs to be given a run in the team until the end of the season and go from there, worth keeping !

Bob, Chris Houghton played left back for us during our promotion season.Tim Breacker played on the right
Let's hope Byram gets a run now until the end of the season

No matter how good Trippier is he will be second fiddle there. I'd rather keep with Byram and actually support him to make that position his own.

Trippier is 3 years older, played many more prem games cos of Burnley.
Still, fuck Spurs - Byram could be the new Bale! Or at least the new Tim Breacker.

Reply daveyg 1:54 I hope Byram turns out to be as good as Trippier but I saw Tottenham's televised game yesterday and was very impressed by Trippier. He's a step up on Byram defence wise that's for sure.
In top pro football almost as good is as good as a mile away!

I disagree with your Trippier comparison Willtell. I think he is almost the same as Trippier. He left Burnley when he was 24 after they were relegated. Despite having a personally good season. He has matured in to an excellent squad player and is now keeping Walker out of a very good Spurs team. He has been patient and is having a run in the team. Byram is now getting a run and is getting better. Hopefully a run playing every game until the end of the season will be of huge benefit.

Not the worst right back I've seen play for us. That special honour falls to Chris Hughton.

Yes sometimes we concentrate on what's wrong with a player too much. I remember Byram going past two defenders and putting over a lovely cross. It's something his game has and he regularly does.
As someone else said earlier he isn't a Trippier or Walker but he really isn't too shabby.

Re: Byram

I like his effort and his willingness to try and beat a man.
I don't buy all this "he's young" stuff and whether "he's ready". He SHOULD be ready. He's older (albeit only just) that Masuaku or even Eric fuckin' Dier! So I'm not totally convinced he will "bulk up".
Still, well played yesterday. If only he could finish after getting in a great position.
All things considered, we still need another RB.

Good point sniper. Fullbacks are a dying breed. They are expected to be able to overlap and get a cross in so they are all bred these days as wingbacks.

Re: Byram

In fairness to him his best position at Leeds was generally wingback - his strength is not necessarily defending anyway. If we played 343 properly, he'd be a good option on the right with Antonio right in the front three.
